stew•ard•ship
/stoo-erd-ship/
Noun
The conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially: the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. Environmental Stewardship refers to the responsible use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices.
The Port of Camas-Washougal is calling all community members to join our stewardship group and become environmental leaders in the New Year 2017.
Why Stewardship?
Forming a community stewardship group is one way to harness individuals’ passion and put collective action to work for the community and the environment to continue achieving a better and greener tomorrow. The new Washougal Waterfront Park and Trail is open and we not only want to preserve its beauty but bring a heightened sense of community to the park. By initiating a stewardship group (that will meet 4-6 times a year to start), we are hoping to involve community members of Camas and Washougal in cleanup efforts, plantings, weeding and other works to help support the park. This will be an all age’s group, giving anyone the chance to build work skills and engage in an ongoing and positive community project with their neighbors and friends. Whether you can make one outing or many, you will be appreciated.
